Hamara Desi Christmas is the only Desi Christmas celebration in the Houston metropolitan area! We aim to bring Christmas cheer to people from different walks of faith. The celebration features traditional and non-traditional programs in the form of skits, dances, and songs. The audience is comprised of people from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, China and from many other places in the world. Admission is free and the event is followed by free dinner. Hamara Desi Christmas is a voluntary effort by the Houston Indian Fellowship – a non-profit organization in Houston.

Who we are

In 2008, a group of Indians who were meeting in each others’ houses to celebrate Christmas decided to move the celebration outside so many more could enjoy a Desi Christmas! That’s how Hamara Desi Christmas was born!

Now each year, almost 500+ Houstonians join with us in celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ!

Why we do this

Christmas is widely known as the most wonderful time of the year! What better way to celebrate it than with your fellow Houstonians!

Through this event we want to bring the Asian and Indian diaspora together to Celebrate Christmas. It is a night of entertainment where Houstonians get the opportunity to showcase their incredible talents!
